After 9 years, ‘Chix with Stix’ Disband.
Johannesburg, SA.
After spending 9 years together, ‘Chix with Stix’, South Africa’s all girl drum and percussion ensemble have decided that it’s time to ‘pack it up’. They have toured all over SA and internationally, performing for thousands of fans. It has been a whirlwind of amazing shows, meeting extraordinary people and falling in love with the music and entertainment industry.
The decision was made on mutual ground, respecting that their career paths have taken them on separate journeys, and understanding that some doors need to close for others to open. A strong friendship has formed over the years and this will stay true for many years to come.
After nearly a decade in the industry, Chix with Stix are incredibly grateful to everyone who made it possible for them to have such a long career in such a demanding industry. From the dedicated fans, to brands, companies and clubs that booked the band, as well as friends and family support, it would not have been possible without the constant positive excitement and support received over the years.
Rikki Brest said, “I have had some of the best times of my life with this band, it is sad and emotional that we are going our separate ways, but I think it’s necessary in order for us to continue to grow musically. I am grateful to have been part of Chix with Stix and instead of regretting the break up, I will hold the times we shared close to my heart and use it as inspiration to move on”
Stefania Stefani commented: “It has been an amazing experience; I would not change one thing. Meeting wonderful people to creating so many fun filled and unforgettable memories. I look back at where we came from and smile, it has been a journey of growth, friendship and creativity.”
Anastasia Ferrara commented: “I am very grateful to have been a part of an amazing band and concept for many years. The girls were not only my band mates, but we formed a great friendship and together we experienced and performed at some of the most amazing shows and places together as a band nationally and internationally. As this chapter in our lives comes to an end, we all look to bright futures ahead”
Chix with Stix thank each and every person who gave their support, and would like to assure everyone that this is not the end for each of the members. Keep an eye out for the new projects that Rikki Brest, Stefania Stefani, and Anastasia Ferrara, will be involved in next.

There is a preconceived idea that girls can’t drum, but Chix with Stix have eliminated that thought from any skeptics mind forever. Initially attracting audiences purely out of fascination, Chix with Stix now has a solid fan base that is constantly growing. The band started in Feb 2004 and the members are Rikki Brest, Stefania Stefani, and Anastasia Ferrara and not only do these three girls aim to make a name for themselves in the music industry, but also to be respected for what they do.
Their show appeals to a wide audience, allowing them to perform at all events including corporate events, festivals, clubs, launches, parties and schools since 2004. Their set includes drumming on traditional drum kit, Latin and African percussion, Djembes and even Chairs with singing added into a few songs. Although all three girls have different influences, they strive to create their own exclusive sound. What makes them unique? Well… besides the fact that they are all female, that they all drum and play all the instruments, the rhythms they create are thunderous.
